Removal of catheter fragments from pulmonary artery using a snare.

چکیده
In two patients, indwelling polyethylene catheters embolized to the pulmonary artery after being dislodged into the venous circulation during resuscitative efforts. Both were successfully extracted using a snare catheter. The use of radio-opaque material for indwelling catheters provides a valuable aid in the event of one being dislodged. The use of the snare catheter may obviate the needfor thoracotomy in these cases.

An unusual cause of ventricular tachycardia: Port-A-Cath fracture and embolization into the pulmonary artery.
We describe the case of a patient with a previously placed Port-A-Cath who was admitted to hospital for new onset of non-flushing catheter and palpitations with ventricular tachycardia. A chest X-ray and a linogram showed a Port-A-Cath fracture and distal embolization into the right ventricle resulting in ventricular tachycardia. The catheter was removed percutaneously using a Goose Neck snare ...
متن کاملPercutaneous transcatheter retrieval of intracardiac central venous catheter fragments in two infants using Amplatz Goose Neck snare.
Central venous catheter (CVC) fracture with embolization is a serious and rare complication, and few cases have been reported in children. Catheter fragments may cause cardiac perforation, arrythmias, pulmonary embolism, and sepsis. We report the successful retrieval of intracardiac CVC fragments by percutaneous transcatheter technique in two infants, aged 8 and 15 months. Double-lumen 7 French...
متن کاملSuccessful Retrieval of a Dismembered Central Venous Catheter Stuck to the Right Pulmonary Artery Using a Stepwise Approach
Recent advances in anticancer chemotherapy have resulted in an increase in the number of patients requiring a central venous port catheter, and the incidence of catheter pinch-off syndrome has been increasing. Catheter pinch-off syndrome is a rare and unusual complication. It is difficult to retrieve dislodged catheters from the pulmonary artery, especially if the catheter is stuck to the perip...

CASE DESCRIPTION 2 cats were examined because of congestive heart failure secondary to heartworm infection. CLINICAL FINDINGS One cat had severe abdominal distention and the other had dyspnea secondary to chylothorax. Both had loud right-sided heart murmurs, precordial thrills, and jugular distension. Thoracic radiography revealed cardiomegaly and enlarged caudal pulmonary arteries. Echocardi...
متن کاملPercutaneous retrieval of an intracardiac central venous port fragment using snare with triple loops
Peripherally inserted venous ports fracture with embolization in patients who received chemotherapy is a serious and rare complication, and few cases have been reported in children. We report a successful endovascular technique using a snare for retrieving broken peripherally inserted venous ports in a child for chemotherapy. Catheter fragments may cause complications such as cardiac perforatio...
